Kent UNICEF on campus is part of UNICEF UK the UK branch of UNICEF. The society was elected best new society of the University in 2007-2008.

UNICEF is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to advocate for the protection of children's rights, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential. A voluntarily funded agency, UNICEF relies on contributions from governments and private donors. Its programmes emphasize developing community-level services to promote the health and well-being of children. UNICEF was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1965 and Prince of Asturias Award of Concord in 2006.

Membership of Kent UNICEF enrols you in the voluntary position in UNICEF of a Student Activist and as such you will be joining thousands of people across the UK who are all working to achieve change. By standing up for children's rights, as laid down in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, you can help to bring about positive change. For example at present UNICEF UK is campaigning against the trafficking of children and campaigning on behalf of children affected by HIV and AIDS.

We Kent Student have the opportunity ahead of us to live great lives but around the world today millions of children will not even be given the opportunity to read or write. Hundreds of thousands will die of preventable disease and many will be abused and have there human rights violated.

You can act today and you can make a difference.
